Maggie Reilly as Rafael's Angel - painting

Groove Cat

Oh, that's Maggie Reilly as Rafael's Angel.

Hi Maggie, if you read this: Thank you for all the beautiful songs!

A friendly Squirrel once counted it for me, all the songs in which Maggie sings about angels:
Silver on the Tree/Angel Tears,
Reunion,
Now,
Angel of the Morning and
Juliane Werding's Engel Wie Du.

After painting a few portraits and gaining some confidence, I felt I really would like to paint a portrait of Maggie. I have been a Maggie fan for years and I felt she really deserves this. However, there were very little photos of Maggie around and some of them were very small. I decided to use the one in Starcrossed booklet and somehow I came up with the idea of angel wings. It was only afterwards when I realized Maggie's pose here is very similar to one of Rafael's angels, except that this is mirrored and Rafael's angel is looking up. I have removed some jewelry, because it's too hard to fly around with all the heavy gold on. If you look at it carefully, you'll find the constellation of Pleiades to make her company.

Maggie Reilly's new album (15 september 2006) Rowan is available through the official Maggie Reilly website. If your money is dollars you might prefer Cdbaby. The Rowan is labeled as Red Berry Records. There is little information about RBR in the web, but if I get it right, it was founded in the spring of 2006. Let me guess: Red Berry is a Rowan berry :)

Rowan blooming

I think Rowan is an excellent name for Maggie's album. After bearing modest white flowers in the spring, the rowan tree spends all the summer unnoticed, dressed in dark green. When the autumn comes, it makes a feast with big orange red bunches of berries. But it is a little melancholy feast, the summer is saying goodbye.

Listen to Maggie's interview from the BBC. You will need Real Player for it.

24. January 2008: Maggie's website has been updated. There are new pictures in the gallery (some of them are huge, be warned) and the new layout looks good. Unfortunately, some dead links are still left, but sure they will be repaired soon. And you'll find lyrics for many songs, however, not all of them.

16. August 2008: The berries are red again, the swifts are leaving.

June 2009: Maggie has released  a new album Looking Back Moving Forward, it has been there half an year and nobody told me. There is another review to be written...

23 June 2009: Yesterday I got my copy of Looking Back Moving Forward, have been listening to it a couple of times even if the weather is great.

20 August 2009: the review is out.

15 September 2009: Happy birthday, Maggie

There and back again/The best of  contains only one song "One Little Word" not found on other albums. I could write something of it some day. However, I will postpone it.

Here is the official Maggie Reilly website. Go, get your own copy of Rowan.

Cdbaby, another site to buy Rowan. And, maybe, some other music, too.

For more information of Maggie Reilly see Angel Tears, an excellent website by Merciful Squirrel.

Rowan is available from CDON - at least if you are sitting in Finland or Nordic Countries.

See three nice pictures on Jess PR's website. Yeah, I don't understand German, but I like the pictures ;)

Unfortunately, a German friend decided to close his website to maintain forensic safety. Too much copyright makes the world a miserable place.
