Ants |
Citizens of Valhalla are Myrmica Rubra queen and workers. In Finnish language Myrmica have also the meaning of enemy, which makes them very suitable for Valhalla, which has very violent traditions.
Valhalla bases on acrylic nest. Colorful sand speeds up ants' days. Jovial tube connects the nest to the feeding ground.

14.01.2008. The winter has been very warm and my ants are waking up.
24.11.2007. I finally put the formicarium to cold ant ants to dormancy.
14.10.2007. There must be 5+ workers now, and I can see three white ants already to come out. Now I have to think, what will I do with them during winter.
7.8.2007. The gel nest was abandoned some time ago. Now there is new larvas and the colony is about to increase.
15.7.2007. Increased activity. JonesGirl obviously has at least one sister. Now it seems, that they are planning to abandon the gel nest and dig a new into sand. I've given them a fly and mosquito.
8.7.2007 Queen Raat and 1-3 babies were transformed to nest. I hope there won't be mildew here.
31.5.2007. Stepmother, Sbutki died also.
29.5.2007. Day of sorrow, Oldfogey died. I found her drowned in honey. Because she seems to have eggs, I transported the other queen back from Office to Valhalla.

Stepmother Sbutki
26.5.2007. Queen Oldfogey had a nasty looking fight with other queen so I evacuated the other queen off. Oldfogey has been busy while building it's hole. I was quite sure I saw some eggs there.

The Queen: Oldfogey.
7.5.2007. Tuonela received first citizens. I believe they are two Myrmica ruginodis or Myrmica Rubra queens and two workers.
28.3.2007. Valhalla installed. Video
19.2.2007. Planning Stylizing feeding ground. Pictures at gallery.
