Lexitec offers customized third-party FileOpen Publisher-based PDF packaging solutions for ebook publishers as well as FileOpen Publisher-related consulting, training and paid support. I, Kari Eveli, have been working with Sanford Bingham of FileOpen Systems, Inc. to make the international language versions of the FileOpen software. In addition, I have been publishing FileOpen-protected ebooks on CDs with my own custom solution.

What I can offer is a custom (even translated and localized) packaging solution that installs like any piece of software and incorporates FileOpen plug-in installations for Acrobat Reader and/or Exchange. I am myself making Adobe Acrobat with Search CD ebook installations, so I know how to make this work, too. The packaging solution involves making a custom installer (not a FileOpen smart installer) using FileOpen-secured PDFs (or EXEs). This installer sets up custom Desktop icons for the product and the authorization process and a publisher-specific Start, Programs menu item. FileOpen-secured documents are placed in a user-selectable directory. Acrobat index files can be automatically installed in their proper subdirectories.

This is proposed as a customized packaging service for publishers. The publisher provides the FileOpen-secured PDF files. Or I can process and secure the Acrobat PDF files for the publisher if a special arrangement with FileOpen systems is made. This way the publisher can forget about learning the copy-protection software and programming distributable ebook packages and concentrate on selling ebooks.
