Dogue de Bordeaux is a big and massive breed, and everybody has an opinion about it. It doesn't leave anybody cold. Although it's so big, it wants to sit on your lap and cuddle. It's very gentle towards his own people, but it can cause some bruises to his owner by accident. Somebody has told me, that my dogues look like lions when they are moving.

They say that DDB has a sense of humour and it's kind. It can be a little suspicious towards strangers, but when it gets to know you, it will love you if you love him back. After the wild young years DDB is quite calm at home, but it will notice immediately if something happens. If you own a DDB, you have to have lots of sense of humour and understanding. Dogue de Bordeuax doesn't please anybody, but it learns things very quickly and remembers them forever. They are very intelligent and they make their own decisions. Decisions aren't necessaryly the same as the owner would make. Not one day hasn't gone by I haven't have at least one good laugh with my DDBs. The owner has to also remember that your home isn't the same after the DDB has moved in. Your perspective about cleanliness may change when you share the same house with this slobbering breed.

Dogue de Bordeauxs are good pet dogs, because they devote to their family without conditions. My dogues come with me even to shower, if I let them. Dogue de Bordeaux suffers, if he is not allowed to be with his own family enough. You can do many things with your DDB, but you have to take his actions with a sense of humour. I have tried forest search with Helmi, Helmi's sister has been on agility course and I've considered taking Helmi to track run, too. DDBs enjoy swimming a lot after they learn it, so they may also do water rescue. You can also take your DDB to some ruins, you wouldn't be the first. So Dogue de Bordeaux is not just a sofa decoration, it's very active if you activate it and take it to different places with you.
