Lara is my second saluki, a trouble child, butch-like girl with goofy nature and mind like an adolescent. Lara was a real cultural shock after Viola: I would have never imagined that two salukis could be SO different! She was a very active puppy with endless amount of energy - something I was not quite prepared for ;)
As an adult Lara is still an eternal child who loves to play, run and goof around. She suffers from separation anxiety, but with the company of other dogs and careful daily routines her anxiety can be controlled and our every day life is quite OK.
Lara is much larger than Viola, even a little masculine, but she has a beautiful, gentle expression, beautiful feathering and the most perfect bite. Her weaknesses are narrow front and spreading toes, but otherwise she is quite nicely constructed with very good rear angulations. I suppose her best days in the show ring may still be ahead of us.
Lara's passion is running. She has a perfect character for lure coursing: when she is running there is nothing, really NOTHING, that disturbs her. Her full attention is paid on chasing, reliability is her best quality. Lara has had some very nice competitions, but her physics (large size and poor front) is not optimal to be a victorious star in the field.
One thing about Lara is especially worth mentioning: Lara is excellent with children. All her silly habits, anxiety and adolescence disappears when she is around kids. She is the most patient, peaceful, gentle and loving creature, really a perfect dog to teach children about the world of dogs.
