Aapo is a choice of heart, a male that I was never
supposed to take. He is my wonderboy, the saluki who has all
the best qualities of his mother and something more.
I had always been determined that I will only have
bitches, but once I met Aapo, I lost my heart. Aapo has
truly showed me that you know only half of the breed if you
have only one sex. When Viola's puppies were born I had
planned to keep Viola's daughter. But from the day one I
noticed that Aapo had caught my eye. He was just adorable,
like a little monkey with a big attitude. After a few weeks
it turned out that the only girl in the litter, our precious
Lilli, had an overbite. This, together with the fact, that
there was an excellent home available for Lilli, made me
truly think that maybe I could keep my dream boy Aapo myself.
This is the decision I have never regretted.
Aapo was the easiest puppy one could ever imagine. He did
not destroy anything and he was house clean very early. He
learnt all our daily habits very quickly - it almost seemed
that he had just been waiting that his siblings left for
their homes so that he can truly begin his life with his own
family at his own home.
Aapo is a very loving, kind and affectionate boy with
quite an ego. Since he lives with his mother and Lara, he
adores all bitches, but is quite a macho to other males
except for selected group of good friends.
Aapo is very well constructed to his age. He has very
muscular body with good rear angulations, excellent wide
front and very nice bone structure. At the moment he is
perhaps a loose in front, but once he
settles it will surely be balanced. Aapo's head is a
masculine version of his mother's head: very beautiful lines,
eyes and expression with good underjaw.
Aapo has had a perfect training for running with Lara. He
is a powerful runner with a lot of speed, but perhaps not as
good technique as his mother, partly due to his size. It is
too early to say if he has the mental skills to compete,
only time will tell.
