Cattery
I received my cattery name, Huiskulan, in autumn time 2005. I applied for something else as the first choice and was a bit surprised to have the present one. The name refers to plants and gardening in Finland, so it is good for me because I love nature and one of my dearest hobbies is gardening. My plan had been to breed dogs in the first place and I had already a couple dogs as companions before having a passion to also have cats as pets. In my childhood there were two homecats as pets in my family, so I had a clue of cat´s mind and behavior. I have always loved animals and spent a lot of time with them so it was certain that I am going to have pets of my own whenever there is room and time for them in my life. The first companions in my first own flat were mice and soon after that came dogs.
I am interested in many kind of cats and the breed was not easy to choose. But when I visited a breeder of Norwegian Forest cats, Nalle-Puhin, on Tampere in summer 2004 I fell in love with a blue tortie female kitten. Kiara was the cat of my life, a sweet, tender and friendly kitten. To my great sorrow I lost her at the age of 5 months. There was a new Forest cat kitten coming from Sweden, a red white female kitten from Grianan´s cattery. She was born in September 2004. Lovely Bellis joined us in January 2005. In December 2004 I gave home to a male kitten of stray cats who seemed to be perfectly well, a very good-natured and social cat. He made home among us, me and the dogs in a couple of days. He needed several washings, dewormings, vaccinations and a lot of food and love to become the nice-looking cat with shiny fur that he is now. He just loved to have a warm home with other pets and someone to feed him. Nowadays he leads a happy life with her sister on Tampere.
I live in a wooden house of four flats, a previous farm house, with my pets. I earn my living by working in health care. I have several cats and 3 dogs at the moment.
