About us

We are a family from Espoo, Finland that started our hobby with cats when we got our first norwegian forestcat, FIN*Blue-Viking Trulde in the year 2002. As often, our primary thought was to have a loved family cat. Anyway we decided to take him to one show, just for fun to see what it would be like and how Trolle would do. The first day he did get Ex2, but the day after that he scored Ex1, BIV, NOM and BIS!

After this we went to a few other shows, until Trolle matured and became fertile when he just didn't enjoy being on shows anymore. With time it got clear to us, that Trolle needed a cat friend, so we started looking for another wegie. Our dream was a black girl, and when one was born at the same breeder from whom we had got Trolle we discussed the situation and decided to call the breeder. A few months later FIN*Blue-Viking Frau Olivia walked into our home and our hearts.

We started showing again and when Viivi's development was promising we decided that she should get a litter with Karoliina Hjelm's (Blue-Viking) help. The kittens were born in the spring 2005. At first we decided that all the kittens were supposed to move out, but as time went on one kitten, FIN*Blue-Viking Sweet Lady, stayed. We got our breeder name in 2006, FIN*BlackOnyx. Onyx is a black jewel that is often used as a "base" under jewels to enhance their natural colour. So, this is what happened to us, who said that well "never start showing a lot and absolutely not breeding cats!".

The cat-hobby is driven on by me and my daughter Erica, and even if they try to say otherwise the men in the house also have a part in it. Our cats are full-time family members and therefore they are worth all the attention and proper living environment. In our breeding we concentrate on, except bringing the breed forward, on the temperament of the cats, as we want them to be a part of the family and not only show or breeding cats in their future homes.

We have a small-scale breeding, so that we have all the time the kittens need and deserve that we feel we won't be able to provide with too many cats in the house.
